Figuring that they had a pretty good thing going with the stylish, ultrathin Dimage X, the Minolta folks took the same design, made a few minor feature modifications, and packed an extra megapixel of resolution into the Dimage Xi. And why shouldn't they? You can't buy a camera that's much cooler or more portable than one of the innovatively designed X models. The 3.2-megapixel Xi's image quality is respectable, too, although photo enthusiasts shouldn't expect much in the way of manual control--this is primarily a point-and-shoot gadget. You're paying for the convenience and the cool factor, not for photo-geek features.
